Last year in our dorm, Ava started to watch a lot of movies on their laptop and invited me to the theatres. I very much misunderstood at first. That is the toughest part of art, and why it doesn't appear serious or a "real" reality to a mass, you can not "get it" at first, not because it's not meant to be "got" or there is some training you must go through. Yes exposure is acceptance, but the highlight of these two is that really, art is an impure reflection. It doesn't not act as a subject of life, which is how we understand to take life seriously. A lot of our self-soothing relies on objectivity and subjectivity, a common topic in art dialogue.
